Noticely this religious decree was released after the 12 -day war that began on 13 June, when Israel started a bombing campaign in Iran, targeting sites associated with its atomic program. As a result of the attacks, several top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists died. In retaliation, Tehran responded with ballistic missile attacks on Israeli cities, increasing tension in the region. Israel defended its actions, saying that its purpose was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, an allegation that Tehran has repeatedly rejected, saying that its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes. The conflict rose dramatically when the United States supported Israeli forces in starting a coordinated attack on Iran’s three nuclear facilities. In retaliation, Iran targeted and bombing an American military base in Qatar, which led to a significant increase in enmity and created extensive international concern over the possibility of widespread regional conflict.
