According to the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), direct flights between New Delhi and Manila are scheduled to start from October 1 as an important step aimed at promoting regional contact and relationship between people. The announcement was made during a special press conference organized by the Philippines President Ferdinand Ar Marcos Junior on a state visit to India. P. The initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to deepen bilateral relations in areas such as tourism, trade and cultural exchange. The two countries are also looking for other destinations to increase air connectivity in the near future. Earlier in a joint press statement in the day, President Marcos welcomed the new flight initiative and announced the facility of visa-free entry for Indian tourists visiting the Philippines. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that India would provide free e-visas for tourists from the Philippines.

President Marcos said that I reiterated the introduction of visa-free admission facilities and invited more Indian tourists to come to the Philippines. He further said that I thank Prime Minister Modi for the plan to provide free visa to the Philipino tourists visiting India. We welcome the restoration of direct flights from October this year and reiterate our commitment to expand such air connectivity.
