The Ship Kuutemok of the Mexican Navy collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, USA on Saturday, injured 22 people and 2 died in the accident. The condition of 11 remains critical.
A spokesman for the Emergency Management Office of New York City said that the ship was to go out of New York Harbor towards South, and on the way to stop to fill the fuel on the Brooklyn Water Front.
After this the ship was to go to Iceland, but around 8:30 pm, the ship went in the wrong direction and reached under the Brooklyn Bridge, where it was not to go.
Ship left Pier 17 in Manhattan, near Brooklyn Bridge. Kuutemok had 277 crew members.
The height of the bridge’s deck is 127 feet, while the height of the ship’s tower (mast) is 158 feet. There was a difference of about 31 feet in the height of the deck of the ship and the bridge, this was the reason for the accident.
