Chandigarh: Every day news of hooliganism and beatings keep coming out in Punjab. Now colleges and universities are no different from this. A similar case has come to light in Chandigarh University, where 5-6 students beat up the professor and even broke his arm and leg after failing to attend.

Assistant Professor Irshad Malik has been admitted to the Government Hospital of Sector 32 in a critical condition. This case is on May 17 at 4:30 pm. Kharar City Police has registered a case against the accused student Puneet Yadav and five-six unidentified persons and started investigation. The police have arrested Puneet Yadav and Arleel in this case.

Professor Irshad Malik, a resident of Omega City Kharar, has been employed as an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Chandigarh University for the last 10 years. Puneet Yadav, a student studying in Ershad Malik’s class, had been pressing for several days to complete his attendance but the professor refused to do so citing university rules.

On the evening of May 17, Professor Irshad Malik returned home in a car with his partner after his discharge from the university and when he got out of the car outside Omega City, he started going towards his flat, 5-6 youths surrounded him. These youths had sticks in their hands and their faces were covered with cloths and they all attacked Irshad Malik.

Professor Irshad Malik has identified Puneet Yadav as one of these attackers. Puneet Yadav hit Irshad Malik on the head with his stick, which he put his hand forward to save. In the attack, Irshad Malik fractured his left arm and right leg and suffered serious injuries on other parts of his body.

Meanwhile, Professor Irshad Malik shouted to save his life, hearing which the people passing by the road gathered. Seeing the gathering of people, the youth escaped threatening to kill Irshad Malik. The seriously injured Irshad Malik was immediately taken to the Government Hospital, Kharar, where he was referred to the Sector 32 Government Hospital after first aid.
