Apart from Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, Infosys, ICICI, SBI, shares of Tech Mahindra, L&T were at the red mark on the BSE index in early trade. On the other hand, stocks that rose marginally include Asian Paint, Tata Steel, ITC, HUL, Nestle and Titan. The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex gained 166.96 points, or 0.29 per cent, to close at a new record high of 58,296.91 points. During trading, it once touched a record high of 58,515.85 points. The wide-based National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also rose by 54.20 points, or 0.31 per cent, to close at a new record high of 17,377.80. During trading, it touched a high of 17,429.55 points.
