Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is making his special identity with his innovative experiments. The ‘Jal Ganga Promotion Abhiyan’ started for water conservation in Madhya Pradesh is the visionary initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. In the near future, we will see its pleasant results. When a work is started with auspicious resolve on auspicious context, then nature and God also cooperates for its success. On the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government took an important step towards water conservation by running the state level ‘Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign’ from Gudi Padwa (March 30) to 30 June, which was converted into a mass movement. The government would not have been confident that the issue like water conservation will get so much support from the public that the government campaign will become effective and the society will accept this campaign as its responsibility. Under and inspired under the ‘Jal Ganga Promotion Campaign’, water sources were revived in many places in the state, they were admitted and compositions were made to collect rainwater. It will be said that the initiative and commitment of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has given this campaign of water conservation a mass movement, which has made unprecedented progress in water conservation.
To speed up the water Ganga enhancement campaign, the field ponds, amrit lakes and coupe recharge pit have been constructed under the MNREGA scheme. Along with this, old water structures have also been renovated. In this campaign, active support of 2 lakh 39 thousand jalas was received, who brought the message of water enrichment from door to door. When these jalas reached the village-village, city and house-to-house water conservation, a positive environment was also created and there was an awareness within the society about water conservation. Of course, if this public awareness becomes permanent, the water Ganga enrichment campaign will be the biggest success. While starting the campaign, more results have been achieved on the ground than the target set by the government. 38 thousand new farm ponds have been constructed for water conservation. More than 1 lakh wells were recharged in Khandwa district at a cost of Rs 254 crore, for which Khandwa has got the first place in the country. Indore Division has secured the place of number one in cleanliness and water conservation. These are two prominent examples. Notable work has also been done in other districts of the state. 70 thousand wells, stepwells, rivers and ponds were protected all over Madhya Pradesh, who are going to discharge an important role in water conservation.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav is inspired by the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi. Remember that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for running a mass movement for water conservation. He urged every person to try to conserve rainwater at his level. On the initiative of Prime Minister Modi, the Ministry of Water Power, Government of India has launched the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign under the National Water Mission. The main goal of this campaign is to promote rainwater harvesting and water conservation. This campaign encourages individuals, communities and all stakeholders to create rainwater harvesting structures and adopt water conservation methods. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has also done exemplary work to take the ‘Jal Ganga Promotion Abhiyan’ among the public on the same lines. It should also be remembered that both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav have deep condolences to nature, environment and society. Apart from politics, they talk on all these subjects and also inspire people in this direction. It is noteworthy that in the 120th edition of his popular radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Modi described water conservation as very important for the country. He also emphasized the importance of water harvesting public participation campaign and said that it is our responsibility that “the natural resources we have received, we have to be safe to the next generation”. It must be said that the water Ganga enrichment campaign led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has played an important role in realizing this view of the Prime Minister.
Often government campaigns die on advertisements and paper or their success is limited to social media. This movement is overtaking its desired goal as Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has called for making this campaign a mass movement. They believe that water is the basis of the existence of our life, so it is mandatory to save each drop of it. His deep commitment can be gauged from the fact that he has entrusted the responsibility of overseeing this campaign to ministers and public representatives in charge of all the districts. People are trying to save water by doing large number of shramdaan. The district administration is planting plants of indigenous species, especially on the banks of rivers. Due to this, the water level under the ground is increasing and the soil is being protected from damage. The roof water harvesting system has been made mandatory in urban and rural areas. In schools and colleges, activities like public awareness campaign, rallies, essay competitions, water dialogues and ‘Jal Prahari’ are being conducted in schools and colleges. To ensure the success of the campaign, arrangements for digital monitoring and evaluation systems have been arranged, in which GIS tracking and impact valuation of all activities are being done. The government is using survey from drone, scientifically catchment sector mapping and ground water recharge techniques. From all these arrangements, it seems clearly that this campaign of the state government is one of the highest priority works of the Chief Minister. The purpose of this campaign is not only to revive water sources, but also to ensure their constant care and protection. The government has encouraged public participation for cleaning, demarcation and revival of these sources. People are helping in water conservation by doing large number of shramdaan.
The far -reaching consequences of this campaign are required. It will show more effective results during the rainy season, which will improve the ground water level, increase greenery and moisture in the soil. This will help in removing water crisis in the entire state. Apart from this, this campaign has also positively affected the attitude of the society, from which water conservation has emerged as a collective responsibility. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, this campaign will definitely play an important role in making Madhya Pradesh a water-rich state.
