Harjinder Singh Dhami: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has decided to complete the signature campaign started on 1 December 2022 for the release of Sikhs detained in various jails of the country on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi). Along with this, many other important decisions were also taken by the meeting of the inner committee led by advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami at the Shiromani Committee office.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that under the signature campaign launched by Shiromani Committee for the release of Bandi Singhs, more than 25 lakh proformas have been filled so far, which will be collected and sent to Governor Punjab in the next few days. will be sent to the President of India through

Advocate Dhami said that the inner committee has also decided that a day before handing over the proforma to the Governor, a prayer will be held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Jathedars and Singh Sahibs of Takht Sahibs will also be present during this event. He said that the governor of Punjab has given orders to the officials to take action and when the time is available, office bearers and members of the internal committee of the Shiromani Committee will go to submit the proforma and demand letter.

Advocate Dhami said that the Anthring Committee has also given approval to give stipends for the year 2023-24 to Amritdhari students studying in the educational institutions of the Shiromani Committee. He said that crores of rupees are given as stipend every year under this scheme. The stipends are Rs 3500 for 6th to 10th, 5000 for 11th to 12th, 8000 for graduate level and 10000 for post graduation.

He said that the Shiromani Committee is also working at the ground level to prepare Gursikh youths for competitive examinations for administrative services. 11 Gursikh students have been selected for the first batch of Nishchai Academy opened for this purpose. Therefore, 167 youths gave a written paper, after which 11 Sikh students have been selected during the three-stage interview. He also told that applications will be asked from the students again soon, so that other students can also prepare for the competitive exams in this academy.

Advocate Dhami also said that the Interning Committee has also decided to give three percent dearness allowance to the employees of the Shiromani Committee. Meanwhile, Advocate Dhami raised the issue of presenting the flag of Sarkar-e-Khalsa of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Sikh state and the symbols of Sikh states as separatist material during the arrest of youths by the government and police administration from Punjab in the past few days. The action taken by the committee on the order of Jathedar Shri Akal Takht Sahib was disclosed.

He said that a legal notice has been sent to the SSP of Khanna, who found the flag related to the Sikh state of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the symbols of the Sikh princely states, found in the phone of a youth, as separatist material. Along with this, a notice has also been issued to some channels for tarnishing the image of Sikhs by presenting wrong information in this regard.

He also said that a public appeal was made by the Shiromani Committee to get information for the prosecution of the cases of the arrested innocent youths. Many people have sent information regarding this to the Sikh organization. The Shiromani Committee is continuously working in this regard. He said that the legal team of the Shiromani Committee is also working at the local level to pursue the cases of youths arrested from Punjab and imprisoned in Dibrugarh, Assam.

Secretary Pratap Singh, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, Additional Secretary Sukhminder Singh, Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Simarjit Singh, Associate Secretary Gurdyal Singh, Gurcharan Singh Kuhala, Shahbaz Singh, Superintendent Malkit Singh Baharwal, Incharge Gurnam Singh, Balwinder Singh Khairabad, Tarsem Singh Gill, Gurpratap Singh Masanii etc. were present.
