The apex court last year stayed similar instructions issued by the BJP -ruled Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh, asking the eateries on the Kandar Yatra routes to showcase their owners, employees’ names and other details. Citing a press release issued by the Uttar Pradesh administration on 25 June, Jha said that the new measures have made it mandatory to display the QR code at all eateries on the Kandar Marg, which reveals the names and identity of the owners, which gives the same discriminatory profiles that the court had earlier stayed.
