The new national president of BJP will be selected first, state presidents of Delhi and UP will be announced later

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is close to the appointment of the new national president. The eligibility process of the election is now complete. According to sources, the election of the state presidents of the party in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will be held only after the announcement of the new national president. A senior source of the party said that after the announcement of the national president, the BJP will start the process of election of state presidents in two important states, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The political significance of both states is very high. In Delhi, BJP has returned to power after 27 years under the leadership of state president Virendra Sachdeva. It is still uncertain whether Sachdeva will be given a second term or the party will hand over the leadership of the Delhi unit to a new face. Leadership change is expected in Uttar Pradesh. The term of Jat leader of western Uttar Pradesh and current BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary ended in January 2023. However, he was extended to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The possibility of leadership change has increased in view of the party’s disappointing performance in the state in the recent elections. The organizational election process has been completed in most states. Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and many other states have recently appointed new state unit heads. New presidents have already been appointed in other major states like Bihar, Sikkim, Goa and Assam. This process is expected to be completed soon in the remaining states.
