Vivo itself has withdrawn its name as the title sponsor of the IPL. Tata Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates, will be sponsoring the IPL from this year instead of Chinese mobile maker Vivo. The decision was taken by the IPL’s governing council in a meeting on Tuesday. “Yes, the Tata group will now sponsor the IPL,” IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told PTI.

Vivo bought the IPL sponsorship rights for Rs 2,200 crore from 2018 to 2022 but Vivo took a one-year break in 2020 after the military confrontation between India and China in the Galvan Valley. Instead, Dream 11 was sponsored. Vivo became a sponsor again in 2021, although there was speculation that they wanted to transfer the rights to the right bidder and the BCCI has backed it.
