Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Monday criticized the state government for the deaths of children allegedly contaminated phlegm syrup and demanded a special investigation team (SIT) inquiry under the supervision of the Supreme Court. While sharing a post, Kamal Nath, while condoling the death of children in Chhindwara, said that the heartbroken family is questioning the government. He wrote that the heartfelt news of the death of innocent children in Chhindwara has shocked the entire state. The Chhindwara that I brought up like a house and family, today the bodies of children are lying in the courtyard of Chhindwara. My mind is extremely distressed, distressed, drunk and angry … The screams of heartbreaking families are questioning this government.

Claiming the death of 16 children, he accused the failure of the state’s healthcare system. Kamal Nath said that the number of children dying from the poisonous cuff syrup has increased to 16. This number is not the result of any accidental phenomenon or natural disaster. This is a proof of our healthcare system, monitoring mechanisms and fatal failure of accountability. Despite this, the government does not even have a wrinkle on the face. Neither a minister has resigned, nor has strict action against senior and responsible officials. Is this the definition of public safety?
In addition, the Congress leader also expressed concern over the lack of inspection and drug quality monitoring in Madhya Pradesh and demanded action against the real culprits. He wrote, “If strict action had been taken in time, many children could have saved their lives, but what the government did? It blocked the big issues and targeted the small people. By taking action against the shopkeepers and lower level employees, an attempt was made to take the matter, but who are the real guilty? Drug manufacturer companies, their distribution networks and no inspection of those institutions … but no steps have been taken to tighten them yet.”

He said that the action taken so far is just a strategy to mislead. To distract the public attention from real questions and blame the whole matter on the small people. Describing it as a “murder of children”, Kamal Nath said, “This is not just policy failure; it is similar to the murder of children. When our health department monitoring, quality monitoring of medicines and registration rules are so weak that poisonous medicines can reach the market easily, then such results are lacquer. The groan of families should be laughed. Are you data? The former Chief Minister, along with the SIT investigation, demanded standardized investigation of all suspected cough syrups and immediate compensation to the affected families.
