Chandigarh: Former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu had filed a petition in the Punjab Haryana High Court regarding the reduction of his security. But now the government has come back on the backfoot as soon as it responds in the court. Instead of opposing Sidhu’s petition, the government has asked for time to review. The public prosecutor said that if there is a need for the security of Navjot Singh Sidhu, it will be extended. Now the next hearing in this matter will be held on May 12, on that day the government will have to submit a review report.

Z+ protected finish

Navjot Singh Sidhu has come out after serving 1 year sentence in Patiala jail in road raid case. After that, the Punjab government has reduced their security from Z+ to Y+. He filed a petition against this in the Punjab Haryana High Court. During the hearing on April 28, the court had asked the Punjab government for an answer. In his petition, Sidhu had said that he was receiving threats. After returning from jail, when he went to Sidhu Moosewala’s house, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been openly threatening. In such a situation, the Punjab government wants to kill another Sidhu by reducing the security of another Sidhu.

Sidhu was left with only 13 commandos

Before going to jail in the road raid case, Navjato Singh Sidhu had 25 commandos. When Sidhu was in jail, he refused to go without security during the hearing of a case in Ludhiana court. After this, when Sidhu came out of the house, his security was reduced from 25 commandos to 13. During the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, when Navjot Singh Sidhu was campaigning for the Congress across the country, the party demanded the central government to increase his security due to going to Naxalite areas like Chhattisgarh. The then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also gave his bullet proof vehicle.
