Education Minister Harjot Bains: The first year of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has witnessed major reforms in school education. This statement was made by Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains giving details of the work done by the School Education Department on the completion of one year of the Punjab Government.
Bains said that our government has taken the biggest revolutionary step in government school education and 117 schools of eminence have been established to provide world-class education of high standards to the students of Punjab. Admission to these schools will be through entrance examination.
He said that in order to eliminate the shortage of teachers in government schools, the work of recruiting new teachers was started as soon as the Bhagwant Mann government assumed office, which is going on very fast. So far the recruitment process of 6635 ETT teachers and 90 head teachers/centre head teachers for primary schools has been almost completed. Similarly, orders have been given to 90 lecturers of meritorious schools. 4161 candidates of master cadre and 598 candidates of backlog recruitment have been given appointment letters who are being allotted stations soon. Similarly, the recruitment of 5994 ETT teachers is going on.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains said that this is the first time that books have reached the schools before the start of the new academic session. The minister said that for the first time 66 school principals were sent to Singapore for training to make the standard of teacher training global.
The School Education Minister said that in response to the positive actions taken by the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Maan, parents on a large scale have removed their children studying in private schools and enrolled them in government schools. He said that on the first day of the admission campaign 2023 conducted by the department, more than one lakh students have taken admission in government schools.
Harjos Bains said that similarly on the occasion of Mega PTM on 24 December 2022, 15 lakh parents went to schools and checked the performance of their children, which is a record.
He expressed the hope that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann will make the government schools of Punjab the best schools in the country in the coming years from where they will contribute to the development of Punjab and the country by getting cheap and quality education.
