The Election Commission has extended the deadline for the ongoing Special Incentive Revision (SIR) in 12 states and Union Territories by one week. The commission said that now the final voter list will be published on February 14, 2026. The enumeration period of voter addition-removal i.e. voter verification will now run till December 11 which was earlier scheduled for December 4. On the other hand, earlier the draft list was to be released on December 9 but now it will be released on December 16.
In fact, after Bihar, SIR has started from October 28 in 12 states and Union Territories of the country. In this process, the voter list will be updated. Names of new voters will be added and errors appearing in the voter list will be corrected.

Recently, the Election Commission said in its press conference that 99.53 percent of the calculation forms made for 51 crore voters have been delivered to the people. About 79 percent of these forms have also been digitized, that is, the names, addresses and other details written in the forms that BLOs bring from house to house have been entered in the online system.
