Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday appreciated the role of women in the Indian Armed Forces while attending the flag ceremony of Indian Navy’s sailing vessel (INSV) Tarini. He said that Lieutenant Commander Dilna and Lieutenant Commander Rupa A, welcome. I congratulate both of you on this historical achievement. The charismatic work you did is your achievement, but it is also our achievement as a nation.

INSC Tarini reached the banks of Goa this morning, which completed its campaign, which was sent from the Naval Ocean Saleing Node in Goa on 2 October 2024. The Defense Minister appreciated the bravery of the naval officials and said that traveling 45 thousand kilometers while facing the sea is a major achievement in itself. The Defense Minister said during his speech, “About 25 thousand knots, ie about 45 thousand kilometers traveling in 8 months, that too while living in the middle of the sea, it is a major act of bravery in itself.”
Singh said, “The loneliness you may not have seen cannot be described in words. People here live with each other and feel lonely, and you people (INSV Tarini’s crew) are facing a lonely sea, where someone forgets a person and no animal can see. In that case, you have spent 8 months. I think you would have faced many problems.” He highlighted the contribution of women to the armed forces.

He said that today our country’s daughters are fulfilling their responsibility from the heights of Siachen to the depths of the sea. The doors of schools of armed forces have been opened to women. Referring to the first batch of women who passed from the National Defense Academy (NDA), the minister said that 17 girls have passed this month from the NDA. Women have active and effective participation in every part of the Indian armed forces. During Operation Sindoor, women pilots and other women soldiers have played an important role in action against terrorism in Pakistan and PoK.
