According to India’s Foreign Ministry, Wang Ji, who is also a member of the political bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and also a special representative of China on the border issue, will discuss with his Indian counterpart, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in this mechanism. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will also hold a bilateral meeting with Wang Yi during the visit. The statement said, “At the invitation of NSA Ajit Doval, a member of the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Ji will visit India on 18-19 August 2025. He will hold a bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Wang Yi.

Confirming the development, Chinese Ambassador to India, Shoo Faihong, posted on X that from August 18 to 20, the CPC Central Committee’s political bureau member, External Affairs Minister and China-India border will visit China’s Special Representative Wang Yi India and hold a 24th round between China and India on the border question on the invitation of the Indian side. The talks of this round are considered to be important in the backdrop of military and diplomatic dialogue that has been going on since the border deadlock in 2020, causing a huge decline in relations.
