The circumstances of Arunachal Pradesh: People of Thembang village said: We will die, will not let China enter

Despite China’s claim on the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the people of Thembang village near the border are excited to include it in the permanent list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Two days ago, China claimed Arunachal Pradesh by publishing Chinese and Tibetan names from 27 places, which India had strongly opposed.

Unlike China’s tricks, the people of the village are preparing to take the cultural heritage globally. At a conference this week, Dirang MLA Furpa Tsering asked the counseling committee to work on all the criteria, so that Thembank can get the tag of the heritage site soon.

The people of the village say that China has been claiming our areas but it is the land of India. We can die to protect the motherland.

The Government of India had published an information on 2 April 2018, stating that 6 monuments/historical sites in the north-eastern states have been temporarily identified under the World Heritage Site. Among them, there is also the village of Thembang in Arunachal.

56 year old N. Lahamu (name changed) said that China has been doing the childish act of changing the names of places in our state before, but it does not matter to the villagers. We are Indians and Arunachal Pradesh was an integral and inseparable part of India, and will always be.

We are living fearlessly like other people of the country. MLA Furpa Tsering said that this is a moment of pride for Arunachal, in the context of the inclusion of Thembang village in the final temporary list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

How is thumbang

In 2014, UNESCO nominated Thembang with Zero Valley for the World Heritage Site. The state government declared it as a state heritage site in 2015. 3.2 Spread over an acre, the fortress village is home to Drikipa clan of Monpa tribe. There are 254 people of the village. It falls in the West Kamang district. China’s Army is deployed 32 km from the village.
