Police have recovered the body of an elderly man in a village in Fatehpur police station area of Saharanpur district. A police officer gave this information on Monday. Superintendent of Police (Nagar) Vyom Bidal told PTI-Ko that the deceased has been identified as Brahmapal (70), a resident of Halwana. He said that the dead elderly were identified on the basis of Aadhaar card.
He said that an empty pouch of poisonous substance has been recovered from the body, which causes suicide. On receiving the information, the local police and forensic team reached the spot and collected samples from the surrounding area for investigation.
According to family members, Brahmapal had been living in old age homes for a long time and recently returned to his family. He told that he was in deep depression for some time and was not talking to anyone in the house.
Police has sent the body for postmortem. SP Bidal said that preliminary investigation shows that Brahmapal gave his life by consuming poison. He said that the exact cause of death will be known only after the post -mortem report.
