Vivek Agnihotri’s film “The Bengal Files” will be released in theaters on 5 September. The film has given rise to a major political controversy in Bengal, as it allegedly represented the Hindu massacre in the backdrop of the 1946 Calcutta riots. Actress and producer Pallavi Joshi has made an appeal to the President of India Draupadi Murmu. In a long open letter shared on social media, he has demanded protecting his constitutional rights so that his upcoming film ‘The Bengal files’ can be released in West Bengal. Released on 5 September, the film is the last part of the series called ‘Files Trillji’. The previous films of this series ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’ also sparked nationwide debate.Joshi, who played Maa Bharti in the film, accused the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee of threatening the exhibitions to stop the screening of the film in the state.

She said in the letter that she is not demanding any “favor”, but is demanding “security”.“My family is being threatened by political party workers every day. Now the theater owners have told us that they are being threatened and they are refusing to screen the film for fear of violence by the ruling party workers. ‘The Bengal Files’ is based on the incidence of partitions in August 1946 in Calcutta, Noakhali riots and partitions in Bengal’s West Bengal and Bangladesh (East Bengal). Earlier, the film’s trailer launch program in Kolkata was canceled by the police, after which the producers accused the Trinamool Congress of misusing their power to suppress the “truth of Hindu massacre”.

Joshi wrote in the letter, “With a heavy heart, I am not appealing to you, but for safety.”He further said: “But the truth is being tightened in the truth in West Bengal. You are my last hope. Please protect our constitutional rights and allow The Bengal files to be displayed peacefully in West Bengal. “
‘The Bengal Files’ is written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Agnihotri. It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar.
The film, presented by Tej Narayan Aggarwal and IM Buddha Productions, is part of Vivek’s files Triaology, including ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Tashkent Files’. The film will be released in theaters on September 5, 2025.
