A group of Khalistan supporters obstructed at an event organized to commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day in Melbourne, Australia. The incident occurred outside the Indian Consulate in Melbourne.
According to the local report, when the overseas Indians were hoisting the tricolor and singing patriotic songs, Khalistan supporters protested by waving their flags and raising slogans. The video that went viral on social media also shows a debate between the two groups. The police reached the spot and handled the situation and pacified the case.

Increasing Khalistani activities in Australia
The incident is the latest in Australia’s recent increased Khalistan activities. In the last few months, many such incidents have come to light.
Last month, a Swaminarayan temple in Melbourne and two Asian restaurants were attacked with hateful frescoes. The picture and racial comment of Adolf Hitler was written with spray paint in the temple complex in Boronia.
An Indian man was attacked in Adelaide over a parking dispute, which was investigated as a possible racial attack. In 2024, Khalistan supporters clashed with Indian cricket fans during the fourth Test match between India and Australia.
