The 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks were presented in Patiala House Court in NIA remand on Friday in Patiala House Court. The NIA special court has ordered Tahwwur to be sent to judicial custody on 6 June. Due to security reasons, Rana was produced in court one day before the due date. Rana was taken to Tihar Jail after being sent to judicial custody.
The NIA brought Tehwavur Rana to India from America on April 10 from America. On April 10, he was sent to a special Nia Judge Chandrajit Singh to 18 days custody. It was again extended for 12 days.
On April 30, the court gave permission to take Samples of Rana’s voice and handwriting on the demand of NIA. Earlier on 28 April, Special Nia Judge Chander Jeet Singh sent Rana to a 12 -day custody.
Tehwavur was arrested by the US agency FBI in October 2009 in Chicago, USA. He was accused of providing necessary goods to carry out the terrorist attack in 26/11 in Mumbai and Copenhagen.
The NIA released this picture of him after bringing Tahwavur Rana to India. However, his face could not be seen in it.
Voice and writing sample test took place on 3 May
3 May took samples of Tahwwur Rana’s voice and handwriting. Rana was presented before Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Kumar for this sample. Many letters and marks were written from Rana here. Advocate Piyush Sachdev confirmed that Rana fully followed the court’s directive to give these samples.
The agency argued that he needed more custody to complete interrogation. Demanding to increase his remand, the NIA argued that Rana was evasive during interrogation and was not cooperating in the investigation.
Rana is a doctor in Pakistani army, Rana is a citizen of Canada
64 -year -old Tehwavur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. Rana worked as a doctor in the Pakistani army. He then moved to Canada in 1997 and started working as a businessman who gave immigration services there.
He reached America from Canada and opened a consultancy firm called First World Immigration Services on several locations including Chicago. According to US court documents, Rana also visited Canada, Pakistan, Germany and England several times. He can speak about 7 languages.
Rana is a childhood friend of David Headley, mastermind of Mumbai attack
David Headley was the mastermind of the Mumbai attack. Tehwavur was his childhood friend, who helped him to carry out the attack. Rana knew that Headley was working closely with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Rana was supporting the terrorist organization and terrorists by helping Headley and providing financial help to him.
Rana was aware of whom Headley is getting, what is talking. He also knew the names of the attack and some targets. Tehwavur Rana was arrested by FBI in 2009. Rana was convicted for supporting Lashkar-e-Taiba in America. Till now he was closed at a detention center in Los Angeles.
On 26 November 2008, 10 terrorists of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out attacks in Mumbai. These attacks lasted for four days. A total of 175 people were killed in these attacks, including 9 attackers and more than 300 people were injured.
