Terrible road accident on Sangrur-Patiala road, 4 people died

On the Sangrur-Patiala national highway, a speeding pick-up vehicle hit a PRTC bus stopped at the bus stand of Village Klaudi this morning. 21 persons including the driver of the pickup vehicle were seriously injured. All the people in the pick-up were going back to their village Badhani Kalan, Raniyan District Moga after paying obeisance from Patiala Kali Mata Temple.

As soon as the accident was reported, the injured were taken to Civil Hospital Sangrur with the help of Ambulance 108, where four persons including a three-month-old girl died. Five injured, including the driver, were referred to Rajindra Hospital Patiala after first aid from Civil Hospital Sangrur, while the remaining dozen patients are undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Sangrur. As soon as the incident came to light, MLA Narinder Kaur Bharj’s husband Mandeep Singh Lakhewal, SDM Sangrur Navreet Kaur, Naib Tehsildar Avtar Singh also reached Civil Hospital Sangrur to inquire about the condition of the patients.

According to information, a pick-up loaded with 21 persons on its way back to Moga after offering obeisance from Kali Mata temple Patiala hit a PRTC bus parked on the roadside from behind while crossing a trolley near Klaudi village. The collision was so severe that the front part of the vehicle was badly shattered and the driver of the vehicle was badly trapped.

Among the injured, drivers Fakir Chand, Binder Kaur, Tej Kaur, Nek Singh and Mandeep Kaur were referred to Patiala due to their serious condition. During this accident, four persons including Charanjit Kaur, wife Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Panjgari and a three-month-old baby girl died. The police of Thana Sadar Sangrur have reached the spot and started the investigation.
