Tender allotted by PWD for Halwara Airport

Halwara International Airport in Ludhiana: AAP MP Sanjeev Arora said that Punjab Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) has awarded tender to Kabir Infra Pvt Ltd to complete the remaining work at Halwara International Airport under construction in Ludhiana.

The Rajya Sabha member said the firm will undertake work including construction of internal roads, estate public health services and campus lighting at the Halwara airport, where civil works are underway.

According to official information, the concerned firm is to construct internal roads, estate public health services and campus lighting among other works at the Halwara airport, where the construction work is progressing rapidly. The work has been awarded to Kabir Infra Pvt Ltd for Rs 15,37,15,100, which is 2.7 per cent less than the tender price of Rs 15,87,14,658.

The tenders are allotted subject to the conditions that the work should be carried out as per the specifications of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the instructions issued by the Government or the Finance Department from time to time should be strictly followed.

The construction firm has been given five months to complete the work. The tender was allotted in the second week of April.

Arora said that the state government will strictly ensure that there is no compromise in the quality of work. He said that this project was hanging earlier but now it is in the final stage.

Arora gave this information in a statement and expressed satisfaction over the latest development. He said that it is good to see that everything is being done in a timely manner. He hoped that the construction firm concerned would comply with all the conditions mentioned at the time of awarding the tender and work would be done as per the technical specification on time.

Arora expressed hope that it is a few months before flights start from Halwara airport. Apart from this, Arora reiterated that this project once implemented would prove to be economically beneficial not only for Ludhiana but for the entire state.

He said that with the personal intervention of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann, the state government has already released Rs 50 crore for early completion of the civil air terminal work.
