Former Bihar Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav has announced to contest the upcoming assembly elections. His political party is named Janashakti Janata Dal and its election symbol is a black board. Tej Pratap Yadav has also shared the party poster on his official X handle. Tej Pratap wrote on X, “We are fully dedicated and ready to the overall development of Bihar. Our aim is to establish a new system by bringing radical changes in Bihar. We are ready to fight a long battle for the overall development of Bihar.”

Tej Pratap has also included five prominent leaders and celebrities in the party’s poster. The poster features Mahatma Gandhi, Bhimrao Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayaprakash Narayan and Karpoori Thakur. Significantly, Tej Pratap has not included his father Lalu Prasad Yadav in the poster. On the poster of Tej Pratap Yadav’s new party, it is written: “Jan Shakti Janata Dal, Social Justice – Social Rights – Complete Change. Power of public, rule of people – Tej Pratap will ensure the development of Bihar.” Along with this, a mobile number has also been released for those wishing to join Jan Shakti Janata Dal.

Tej Pratap has claimed that he will contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections from Mahua assembly constituency. Earlier, in 2015 too, he contested from Mahua and won. Tej Pratap described Mahua as his work place and said that if someone else contests elections from Mahua, the public will defeat him. In May this year, Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled Tej Pratap Yadav from both the family and the party and broke all the relationship with him. Earlier, a post was published on Tej Pratap’s Facebook account claiming that he was in a relationship with a girl (Anushka) for the last 12 years. The incident gave rise to dispute in the Lalu family.
