In today’s films, where more noise, big dialogue and appearance action is emphasized, “Tehran” holds a completely different path. It is a film that neither takes the audience lightly, nor makes the story decorative. Inspired by true events, this political thriller not only disturbs the complications of international politics, but also brings out the private battle of a human being with great sensitivity.
The film begins with a terrible bomb blast in the streets of Delhi. Many people are injured in the accident and an innocent girl dies. But it is not a common terrorist attack – there are political equations, international enemies, and a network that does not care for boundaries.
The responsibility of this case is entrusted to DCP Rajiv Kumar (John Abraham). For them, it becomes not just an inquiry, but a personal vengeance, because the girl killed was very close to her heart.
As the story moves forward, Rajiv realizes that this incident is not limited to India only-the old enmity between Iran and Israel is also deeply connected. And India is implicated in an attempt to balance a balance between these two superpowers.
John Abraham has played a serious, calm and broken character from his action avatar this time. His acting communicates not by mouth, but through eyes and silence. This is perhaps John’s most balanced and mature acting. Manushi Chillar is in a limited but impressive role. Her character as Sub-Inspector Divya Rana takes a big turn in the story. Her simplicity and seriousness matches the tone of the film. Niru Bajwa plays a calm but politically aware and strong character as Diplomat Shailaja. She leaves an impact in every scene even while in the background. The terrorist of Hadhi Khajanpur produces fears as Ashraf Khan but without any overacting. His acting is so real that the audience trembles with his intentions.

The film little little is inspired by a real bomb blast of 2012, but the style of presenting it is completely cinematic. Politics, emotion and international relations have been threaded in such a way that the audience is forced to think at every turn.
India’s role has neither been made a hero, nor is it shown in reality how the country sometimes has to take moral decisions under political compulsions.

The writings of the film are very balanced and impressive – neither excessive drama, nor any emotional pretense. Ritesh Shah, Ashish Verma and Bindni Karia have coined a story that goes on a fine balance between politics, emotion and reality.
The camera work of the film is praiseworthy. The crowded streets of Delhi, Abu Dhabi’s deserted and stress -filled locations – are all shot with RAW and realistic lenses. Background music neither loud, nor playing with emotions – rather it is as important. This music makes the story feel, not dominating. The length of the film is perfect. Neither a stretch, nor a meaningless thing. Every scene moves forward by saying its point.
“Tehran” is not just a detective or thriller film. It is a political commentary, a mirror that shows that the real price of diplomacy, strategy and espionage is paid.
This film shows that wars are not just fought on borders – real battles take place in the rooms where decisions are taken. When governments retreat, sometimes an honest officer alone handles the front-this is the soul of this film.
“Tehran” produced by Madock Films and Beck My Cake Films is not an film, an experience – which forces the audience to think, scares, and finally leaves a deep impression. It is one of the films that remain in your mind even after watching.
If you are looking for cinematic depth, political reality and strong acting – and not just entertainment from films, meaning – then don’t miss Tehran.
The film is currently available on Zee5.
Must see – but by opening both mind and heart.
