In a notification issued by the Government of Karnataka on Thursday, Tamanna was named Brand Ambassador of Mysore Sandal Sop, which broadcast online. It mentions that he will be paid Rs 6.20 crore to become an ambassador for two years, as has been confirmed by Money Control.

The move has faced strong criticism from pro -Kannada groups, local activists and opposition leaders. Significantly, KSDL’s turnover in 2024-25 is Rs 1,785.99 crore and is planning 435 new distributors and international expansion with a target of Rs 5,000 crore by 2030. Minister MB Patil wrote on his X handle, “KSDL aims to increase its turnover to Rs 5,000 crore by 2028. In this regard, significant changes are being made by following the multi -faceted strategies required for the all -round development of the organization.”

For unknown people, Kannada organization Karnataka Defense Vedike objected to making Tamanna a brand ambassador, saying that KSDL is a part of the glorious history of the Kannada people and it is unfair to make a non-Kannada-speaking person face. Social activist Mariling Gowda Patil has written a letter to the Chief Minister objecting to the appointment of a non-Kannada actress. The government clarified that this decision is not based on regional identity, but is based on a commercial strategy.
The minister said that other celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandana and Kiara Advani were considered, but Tamannaah was selected due to her digital reach, all India appeal and cheap conditions.
Talking about the work front, Tamannaah was last seen in the Crime thriller ‘Odella 2’ in the lead roles with Hebah Patel and Vashisht N Simha. She will be seen in the lead role of Siddharth Malhotra in the folk thriller ‘One – Force of the Forest’.
