Taare had warned me about Shinde, should have listened to him: Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said late party leader Anant Tare had warned him about Eknath Shinde in 2014 itself and he should have taken it seriously.

Speaking at the launch of a book on Tare, the three-time mayor of Thane, Thackeray said the Shiv Sena had contested the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections independently because the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was its ally at the time, was planning to “destroy” it.

Without naming Shinde, the current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Thackeray said that Tare had told him that this man would betray him one day. Shinde had rebelled against Thackeray’s leadership and toppled the Maharashtra government led by him in June 2022.

After this, the Shiv Sena faction led by Shinde joined hands with the BJP and he became the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Thackeray also said that Thane was once a city of Shiv Sainiks, but now it has become a city of contractors. Thane city is considered to be Shinde’s stronghold.
