The Swiss authorities have announced that the country has made several staff changes to its representations abroad, appointing 15 new ambassadors to different countries.
According to the Federal Council of Switzerland, the decision to make staff changes and appoint new ambassadors was made during a meeting held today, March 17, 2023, and the same stressed that the changes are part of the usual transfer rotation, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The Swiss Federal Council said that Massimo Baggi, who is currently head of mission in Abu Dhabi, has been appointed to ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Romania.
The same revealed that Félix Baumann, who is the head of the Multilateral Affairs Division and deputy permanent representative of Switzerland to the UN Office and other international organisations, and permanent representative to the Conference on Disarmament, has been appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Moldova and Ukraine, based in Kyiv.
New appointments have been made to Micronesia, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Finland, Mozambique, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, and Bangladesh, among many others.
The Swiss Federal Council explains that Nicolas Brühl, who is the head of mission in Pretoria, has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Philippines, Micronesia, Palau, and the Marshall Islands, based in Manila.
Moreover, Sabrina Dallafior Matter, who at the moment is a consul general in Milan, has been appointed to Finland, and Alain Gaschen, who is head of mission in Manila, has been appointed to the Republic of Mozambique.
In addition to the above-mentioned, the authorities further revealed that Nathalie Marti, who currently is an assistant director of the Directorate of International Law in Berlin, has been appointed to Norway and Iceland, based in Oslo.
They also disclosed that Mauro Reina, who is the head of mission in Havana, has been appointed to Denmark, and Reto Siegfried Renggli, who currently serves as director of the Trade Office of Swiss Industries in Taipei, has been appointed to Bangladesh.
Gilles Rodui, who just until recently was the deputy head of the Peace and Human Rights Division at the FDFA State Secretariat in Bern, has also been appointed to a new role. Rodui has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Venezuela, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, based in Caracas.
Lastly, Jürg Sprecher, who is the head of mission in Caracas, has been appointed to the Republic of Kosovo, based in Prishtina.
Additionally, another five people got their ambassadorial titles presented. They will mainly have roles related to international finances, education, research, innovation, and economic affairs, among others.
