The support of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for Operation Sindoor has given rise to political controversy within his party. Udit Raj called Tharoor a ‘super spokesperson of BJP’, while top leaders of the party separated themselves from his comments. The incident highlights internal division within the Congress party on national security issues. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor accused “critics and trolls” of distorting his ideas and words to support his own party criticisms to support the Center on cross-border attacks and said that he has “even better things”. The Congress of Tharoor, who is leading the multi -party delegation as part of the global reach of the Center on terrorism, strongly criticized the comment that India crossed the Line of Control for the first time under the Narendra Modi government to conduct a surgical strike “under the Narendra Modi government.

Congress responded to the story of surgical strike
As soon as his comment went viral, the Congress posted a reply without losing time. The Congress says that six surgical strikes were carried out during the UPA government, but they were never campaigned.Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda posted an old interview of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in which he said that the UPA government also carried out a surgical strike.Kheda posted, “Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh: Many surgical strikes were carried out during the UPA government @Shashi Tharoor.” This post was shared by many Congress leaders, Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh.
Kheda also posted a picture on X, in which 4 Sikh Regiment officials are seen standing outside a Pakistani police station in Burki, Lahore during the 1965 war. However, Congress leader Udit Raj, while attacking Tharoor directly, accused him of being “dishonest” and defaming the party’s “golden history”.

Udit Raj posted“I can convince Prime Minister Modi to declare you the super spokesperson of the BJP, even declare the Foreign Minister before coming to India. How can you defame the golden history of the Congress by saying that India has never crossed the Line of Control and International Border before Prime Minister Modi … How can you be so dishonest towards the party that gave you so much?”
Shashi Tharoor clarified the comment
Explaining his comment, Tharoor said that he was talking about retaliation for terrorist attacks and not the previous wars. Shashi Tharoor wrote on X, “For those fanatics who angry about my alleged ignorance of Indian valor across the LoC in the past.” The Kerala MPs, who have been involved in a growing confrontation with their party, insisted that the previous Indian answers for terrorist attacks were restrained and limited to terrorist attacks due to the LoC and international border.
Tharoor further said, “Welcome to the critics and trolls to be distracted by my thoughts and words. I really have better jobs to do.” Tharoor’s comments made in Panama City have further increased their rift with the Congress. The party clearly expressed its displeasure after Tharoor accepted the Center’s Operation Sindoor Global Outreach invitation. Tharoor said on Wednesday, “The change that has occurred in recent years is that the terrorists have also realized that they will have to pay it. For the first time, India violated the Line of Control between India and Pakistan for a surgical strike on a terrorist base, a launch pad after the Uri attack.”
A delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor met Republic President Jose Raul Mulino at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting with the President of Panama took place as part of India’s efforts to express its strong stand against Pakistan sponsored terrorism. Addressing a gathering in Panama, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that when there are terrorist attacks, Mahatma Gandhi’s land will not show another cheek, we will answer. We should always stand for our values, and we should live without any fear. Freedom from fear is the thing for which we have to fight against the attacks of wicked people in India these days, but those who believe that by coming to our country, killing innocent people and running away will somehow achieve a big political or religious purpose, as you can imagine, it is not something for which any self -respecting country will bow and even the other land will not be shown, we will not show any other country, Will give
