The Supreme Court on Tuesday made a significant announcement in the defamation suit against Vijay Mallya. The Supreme Court has said that the last hearing in the case in which fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya has been convicted will be held on January 18, 2022. “We have waited a long time in this matter, now we cannot wait any longer,” the apex court said. Mallya was convicted of defamation in 2017.

The Supreme Court said that this process should end now. The apex court said Vijay Mallya’s counsel could argue on his behalf.

“We cannot wait for Vijay Mallya forever,” the apex court said. The court had directed Mallya to appear but he did not appear. Earlier, the court had also rejected Mallya’s petition seeking review of the 2017 judgment in the case.

In the case, Mallya was convicted of defamation for sending เจฌเฉฑเจšเจฟเจ†เจ‚ 40 million to children in violation of court orders. At the same time, on January 18, the Center had told the court that Mallya’s extradition was being delayed due to some legal issues.

Vijay Mallya has been living in the UK since March 2016. He is one of the accused in a Rs 9,000 crore bank loan fraud case involving his defunct Kingfisher Airlines and is currently out on bail in a extradition case.
