Supreme Court sought information about pending cases in High Courts: said- It should be a guideline for this, to make guidelines for this

The Supreme Court on Monday sought information about pending cases from all the high courts across the country. The court said- High Court should submit reports of cases in which the verdict was reserved before 31 January 2025, but till date it has not been pronounced.

A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice NK Singh said- Such delay in hearing of cases is very disturbing. Get justice on time. For this, we have to fix some necessary guidelines. This cannot go on.

The Supreme Court gave this order during a hearing on a writ petition. In this, four convicts complained that the Jharkhand High Court had reserved the verdict on their criminal appeals 2-3 years ago, but the final hearing has not been held so far.
