The Supreme Court has given attention to the ecological imbalance in Himachal Pradesh and warned that if the situation does not change, the entire state will be “extinct.”
Talking about the situation in Himachal Pradesh being worse, the court said that climate change is having a “clear and worrying influence” on the state. A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan said, “We want to convince the state government and the Union of India that it is not everything to earn revenue.” Revenue cannot be earned at the cost of environment and ecology. ”
The bench said, “If things continue like today, the day is not far when the entire Himachal Pradesh will disappear from the country’s map.” (But) God should not do this. ”
The apex court on July 28, while hearing a petition against the order of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, commented on the state to consider a petition challenging a notification of June 2025.
In the notification, some areas were declared a “green region”. Refusing to intervene in the High Court order, the Supreme Court said that the clear reason for issuing notification was to curb construction activities in a particular area.
The bench said, “The situation in Himachal Pradesh is getting worse to worse. Serious natural disasters have come in the last few years due to severe ecological imbalance and other environmental conditions. ”It said that nature is definitely” angry “due to activities in Himachal Pradesh.
The bench said, “It is not appropriate to blame nature only for the disaster in Himachal Pradesh. Human beings are responsible for incidents such as frequent slipping of mountains and soil, landslides, collapse of houses and buildings, collapse of roads.
