Sukhbir Badal congratulated Harjinder Dhami who became SGPC president for the 5th time

Harjinder Singh Dhami has become the president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the fifth time. He defeated Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) candidate Mithu Singh by 99 votes. Along with this, Raghujit Singh Virak was elected as Senior Vice President, Baldev Singh as Junior Vice President and Sher Singh Mand as General Secretary.

Sukhbir Badal congratulated Harjinder Dhami on his re-election as President of Shiromani Committee for his uninterrupted service. Along with this, he thanked the group members for freely supporting The V Dhami and winning with a big lead.

Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema said, “It is a big success. Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the name of Advocate Dhami after consulting all the members. He got 117 votes, while Mithu Singh got only 18 votes.”

He thanked all the members once again for electing an honest person. Last year when the polls were held, the opposition got 33 votes and this time the number is even lower.

Mithu Singh said that those who contested against Dhami have also been selected for the final committee. This election was held at Teja Singh Samudra Hall of Sri Harmandir Sahib complex.

Surjit Singh Garhi, Surjit Singh Tugalwala, Surjit Singh Kang, Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Diljit Singh Bhinder, Harjinder Kaur, Baldev Singh Campuri, Major Singh Dhillon, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkhedi, Jang Bahadur Singh Rai and Mithu Singh have been appointed as members of the Interim Committee.
