New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani saw something he later described as “strange” during his latest visit to the White House. According to available information, when Mamdani reached the White House to meet President Donald Trump, he noticed a pile of coffee-table books kept on a table there. A book named UFC was also kept in the same pile in the White House, seeing which he kept turning the pages for some time.
Let us tell you that this is the same UFC White House event, which is going to be held on the South Lawn of the White House in June 2026 and its discussion has been going on for some time. Interestingly, when Mamdani was asked whether he would attend the event, he simply said “No”, to which the show host and Mamdani himself laughed.
It is noteworthy that Mamdani’s calm and composed behavior during the press conference held at the White House had surprised many people. On this he said that he was just thinking about the work of his city. Mamdani says that “only New York City was on my mind,” and that thought was keeping him calm the whole time.
According to available information, this meeting between Mamdani and Trump took place in an environment completely opposite to the sharp controversies that took place during their election campaign. Let us tell you that Mamdani had defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary and defeated him again in the subsequent general elections. This time, Cuomo contested the election as an independent candidate along with Republican candidate Curtis Sliva, but Mamdani won with a clear majority on November 4.
Trump had targeted Mamdani several times during the election. He called him a “communist lunatic” and even said that if Mamdani won, he would cut off funding to New York. But in the meeting held last week, Trump’s attitude was completely different. He not only praised Mamdani but also said that he would feel comfortable living in New York.
