Stones pelted after prayer in Bareilly, police chased the miscreants, many in custody

Some people pelted stones during a protest after the prayer of Jumme in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after which the police had to lathi -charged and take many people into custody.The protesters gathered outside the residence of Ala Hazrat Dargah and the head of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, Maulana Tauqir Raza Khan and had placards in their hands.Officials said that the police was carrying out a flag march in the area, when some miscreants came on the streets shouting slogans and started throwing stones.

IG Ajay Sahni of Bareilly Range said that the situation is currently under control and some stones have been identified and taken into custody. He said, “As you can see, people are on the streets during the performance, but the situation remains normal. Everyone is being interacted since morning. The prayers have been completed and some people have returned home. Some people were seen shouting slogans on the streets, which the police sent back.” He said that people who have been identified have videography and photography. Action is being taken against them. A heavy police force has been deployed around the Dargah and Maulana Khan’s residence to prevent any disturbance.
