Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin said on Friday that more than one million families of the state have joined the party’s outreach campaign Oraniil Tamil Nadu. According to the official website of DMK, “Oranial is an initiative dedicated to the Tamil Nadu state’s land, language and honor. In a social media post on X, the Chief Minister said that on September 15, which is the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Late CN Annadurai, people will pledge to support this campaign at more than 68,000 booths across the district.

The social media post reads, “Tamil Nadu’s soil – language – more than a million families have been involved in our #Oraniyiltamilnadu movement to protect the honor. On the birth anniversary of Tamil Nadu, the great scholar Anna’s birth anniversary (15 September), all these united, will take this resolution at more than 68,000 booths across the district.” Stalin has launched the program to protect the land of Tamil Nadu and people, in which he has emphasized that the central government has worked against the welfare of the people and their culture and has failed to provide sufficient funds to the state. To convey this message to the public, DMK has started its statewide contact campaign Oranial Tamil Nadu.
Starting from July 1, this campaign is being successfully run in all districts and is still going on. On 20 and 21 September, the program will include DMK district-level meetings. Several public meetings will be held all over Tamil Nadu and Chief Minister Stalin will attend the final meeting and give the concluding speech. Significantly, the DMK -led Tamil Nadu government has opposed the proposed Trishag policy in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, recommending teaching three languages.

The Trishag dispute has created a deadlock between the Center and the Tamil Nadu government over the implementation of the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP). The DMK government has termed the triple policy as “saffronisation policy”, which aims to promote Hindi rather than India’s development. The DMK government has also been vocal against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
