ST status for Kudmis of Jharkhand, Bengal and Odisha: Shailendra Mahto

A huge gathering is being organized by Kudmi Samaj on March 21 at Gopal Maidan in Bishtupur. Jharkhand agitator cum former MP Shailendra Mahato gave this information in a press conference held at Nirmal Guest House on Thursday. Said that this rally is being organized on the 285th birth anniversary of martyr Raghunath Mahato, the hero of the Chuad rebellion.

Leaders, activists, representatives of social and cultural organizations from different political parties of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha have been invited to participate in it. Claimed that lakhs of people from all the three states would participate in it.

Demand to install statue of Raghunath Mahato in Parliament premises

Shailendra Mahato said that through the rally, a demand will be made to include all the Kudmis living in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha in the list of Scheduled Tribes. For this, the provisions of Article 342 of the Indian Constitution were cited. Apart from this, there will be a demand to install the statue of martyr Raghunath Mahto, the great hero of Chuad rebellion and the first freedom fighter, in the Parliament premises.
