On receiving the information of the incident, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant went to North Goa District Hospital and Bicholim Hospital and met the injured. Along with this, instructions have been given to provide all necessary medical facilities to the officers.

According to preliminary information- On Friday, a large number of devotees gathered to join the Jatra. Then there was chaos among the crowd, causing a stampede-like situation.

Shri Larai Jatra is a major Hindu religious festival to be held in Shirgaon village of Bicholim taluka, Goa, dedicated to Goddess Lairai. This Jatra takes place every year in April or May. Jatra was held from the evening of 2 May to the morning of 3 May. Meanwhile, the accident took place.
