89 -year -old Evao Hakamata was in jail in Japan for murder from 1968 to 2014.
The Japanese government has decided to give a compensation of Rs 12 crore to 89 -year -old Evao Hakamata for 47 years in jail on false charges of murder.
Hakamata was arrested in 1968. He was serving a sentence till 2014. In September last year, he was acquitted by a court in Shijuoka city of Japan from all the allegations.
He was sentenced to death in 1966 for killing his boss, his wife and his two children, setting up a house on fire and stealing 200,000 yen (Japanese currency).
According to Hakamata’s lawyers, this is the biggest compensation given in any criminal case in the history of the country.

Sister proved evidence and proved brother innocent Hakamata’s sister Hideko gathered evidence for many years to prove his brother innocent. After which the court started hearing the case again in 2014 and released Hakamata from jail.
Hideko said that I had been waiting for this day for 57 years and that day has come. Eventually, a burden came out of my shoulders.
Due to old age and deteriorating mental condition, he was exempted from attending the case hearing. He was living under the supervision of his 91 -year -old sister Hideko.

DNA of victims did not eat Hakamata’s DNA mail After the arrest, Hakamata initially denied all the allegations, but later accepted the allegations. During the hearing, it was revealed that Hakamata was beaten up and forcibly confessed to him.
His lawyers said that DNA and Hakamata’s DNA did not match the clothes of the victims. False evidences were coined to make allegations.
Hakamata’s mental health affected The case is one of the longest and most famous legal matters in Japan. His lawyers said that he has become prisoners who have been sentenced to death for the longest death penalty in the world. This punishment affected his mental health.
