India’s security scenario is constantly becoming complicated. At such a time, the formation of the ‘Bhairav Commando’ force of the Indian Army is a decisive step. The special thing is that by October 31 this year, Bhairav Battalion will also be deployed on China and Pakistani border. Why are ‘Bhairav’ commandos important?
Let us tell you that India already has 10 Para Special Forces and Five Para (Airborne) battalions, whose role is to carry out secret and risky missions in the enemy. But over time it was observed that these high level units are also many times thrown into small strategic operations. In such a situation, the main role of special forces is affected. The ‘Bhairav’ battalion will fill this difference – these will become a link between normal infantry and special forces. With this, special forces will be able to focus on their real strategic and secret campaigns.
Deployment and structure
Let us tell you that three of the first five ‘Bhairav’ units will be under the Northern Command of the Army in Jammu and Kashmir. One of these 14 core (Leh), a 15 core (Srinagar), a 16 core (Nagarota) and the fourth unit will be posted in the desert area of the western sector and in the mountainous area of the fifth eastern sector.
Let us tell you that there are already 415 pedestrian battalions in the Indian Army with 11.5 lakh soldiers (about 800 soldiers in each). From these, ‘Bhairav’ commandos will be prepared from them. This is the “Save and Rease” concept, that is, without recruiting new, restructuring of existing resources.
War characteristics
It will be short and agile in size, equipped with state -of -the -art weapons, gadgets and drones. It will be designed for speed, flexibility and high-impact operations. It will have 7-8 officers in each unit. Their training will be held at their resignal centers for two to three months and after that there will be advance training with special forces units for one month.
Army’s modern war strategy
Let us remind you that Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi recently announced that apart from ‘Bhairav’ battalions, ‘Rudra’ all-Arms brigade, ‘Shaktiban’ Artillery Regiment and ‘Divyastra’ surveillance and looting monitoring batteries will also be made. Also, there will be a dedicated drone platoon in every pedestrian battalion. Parallel to this, a new joint doctrine has also been released for special forces. Currently, the Air Force has 1,600 ‘Garuda’ commandos and the Navy have more than 1,400 Marine Commandos (Markos).
However, the ‘Bhairav’ battalion is an important development in the strategic thinking of the Indian Army. Their formation shows that future wars will be based on speed, technology and accurate attacks not only on a large number of wars. This new initiative on both Pakistan and China fronts will further strengthen India’s security and will give special forests an opportunity to focus on their actual missions.
