The US Foreign Ministry on Thursday formally informed its employees that the ministry is going to send a notice of retrenchment to some employees soon.
The administration of President Donald Trump said earlier this year that a large scale would be trimmed in many ministries. This step is part of the broad administrative effort to reduce the size of the federal government.
It is mainly carried out by the Department of Government Efficiency, which was previously led by Allen Musk. A recent decision of the Supreme Court of America has cleared the way for starting the trimming, while the hearing on the trial challenging the validity of the layoffs is still going on.
Management and Resource Deputy Minister Michael Rigas of the Ministry said in a statement that if some employees are being fired, they will be informed.
Rigas said, “We want to thank him for his dedication and service to America.” It is not immediately clear how many people will be trimmed.
