According to an internal departmental notice received by AP, Foreign Services Officers affected by the retrench will be placed on 120 days administrative leave, after which they will formally lose their jobs. For most civil servants, the duration of isolation is 60 days. The internal message stated, “Regarding departmental reorganization … the department is streamlining domestic work to focus on diplomatic priorities.
