On Saturday, six people died after breaking the wire of the transportation ropeway in the famous Pavagadh Pahari temple in Panchmahal district of Gujarat. A senior police officer gave this information.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Haresh Dudhat confirmed six deaths in the accident. He said that police and firefighters are present on the spot for relief and rescue operations. The Pavagadh temple is located at an altitude of about 800 meters.
Devotees either climb about 2000 stairs to reach the temple or use a cable car. However, officials said that the ropeway was closed to the general public since morning due to bad weather. There is a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Kali on the peak of Pavagarh hill. There are about 25 lakh visitors every year.
