Siddaramaiah said on allegations of rape and murder of women in the shrine of Karnataka, SIT will be set up if the police say

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday that if the police recommends, the Karnataka government would consider the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the allegations of mass burial in the shrine. His statement has come amid the increasing demand for reliable and independent investigation of the case. Addressing the media, Siddaramaiah said, if the police asks to make SIT, then we will do so. He also emphasized that the state government will work not under any external pressure, but perfectly according to the law. He said that there is no pressure on us. Even if someone tries to put pressure, we will only follow the law.

The case came into the limelight at the national level when a person alleged that between 1995 and 2014, while working as a cleaning worker in the Dharmasthal temple administration, he was forced to settle the bodies of several murder victims. The whistleblower, whose identity was kept secret due to danger, claimed that some of the victims were women who had sexual harassment. Siddaramaiah said that this person is absconding for 10 years. He has now made a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He says that he had buried the bodies and he is ready to show the hideouts of the dead bodies. Meanwhile, public pressure is increasing for high-level investigation. The Karnataka State Women’s Commission has written a letter to the Chief Minister demanding the formation of SIT, while two senior advocates have also urged the government to start a fair investigation with full honesty.
