The day BJP leaders and activists made Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Demanding Shivkumar’s resignation, protested, on that day Chief Minister Siddaramaiah retaliated and accused the BJP of politicizing the tragedy for biased benefits. Siddaramaiah challenged the BJP leaders in a strong statement to present the list of resignations given by his own party members during similar incidents in the first past.

Siddaramaiah said that in relation to the tragic stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, I request the BJP leaders of the state to release the list of BJP leaders who resigned during similar incidents in the past before demanding our resignation. What happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium is an unfortunate accident. As a responsible government, we have taken responsibility for the incident. We have suspended senior police officers including the Police Commissioner of Bangalore city and transferred the head of the State Intelligence Department. My political secretary has also been freed from his duties. Additionally, we have formed a member commission under the leadership of retired Justice John Michael Kunha to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
The CM said that despite taking such decisive steps, BJP leaders in the state continue to protest. This makes it clear that their intentions are political rather than being inspired by real concern towards people. Politizing the tragedies is nothing new for the BJP. Every incident of death, accident or violence like a vulture is absorbed into his DNA. Even if an elephant dies in his courtyard, he has a habit of focusing on the fly in his neighbor’s plate. The people of Karnataka have understood this pattern of behavior. We sympathize with the grief and suffering of families affected by every tragedy. This is why we do not take advantage of such incidents for political gains. However, in view of the repeated efforts of the BJP leaders to bounce these incidents and incite the public, we feel bound to highlight their hypocrisy by bringing some incidents during their rule.

Siddaramaiah said that our government is accountable to 7 crore people of Karnataka. Therefore, preliminary action has been taken against those who are negligent in the stampede case. A comprehensive and fair investigation is being done under the leadership of the retired judge. Based on the report of the Commission, strict action will be taken against the culprits without any hesitation. I urge the BJP leaders of the state to leave drama on their road and work on the voice of their conscience.
