Siddaramaiah raging on the plight of the streets of Bengaluru, gave one month ultimatum to the municipal corporation

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reprimanded the municipal authorities on the plight of the roads of Bengaluru. He has given a month’s time to the authorities to fill the roads pits and make all the roads in the city favorable to traffic. In a review meeting convened on road reform and traffic system, the Chief Minister expressed deep displeasure over the lethargy of the officials.

Chief Minister’s anger on bad roads

Siddaramaiah questioned the officials, ‘Don’t you see people’s everyday difficulties? Why didn’t you take immediate steps? ‘ He directed the ward and the chief engineers to take immediate action and warned in a strict tone that tough steps should be taken to fill the pit within a month and to fix the roads. He said that if the officials fail in this, action will be taken against him without any hesitation.
The rebuke has come at a time when a logistics company Blackbuck from Bangalore has announced to change its office at Outer Ring Road due to poor roads and heavy traffic jams. The company’s CEO Rajesh Yawaji raised the issue on social media. However, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar had shown unforgettors on this, saying that the government does not care about such ‘threats or blackmailing’.

Lack of coordination between officials

The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure that there is no coordination between the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA), BMRCL and Departments like BWSSB. He directed the Chief Commissioner to hold weekly meetings with all the five regional commissioners and to stay in constant contact. He also questioned why the roads are not done before the monsoon.
According to data presented by the Municipal Corporation, there were 14,795 pits in Greater Bengaluru, out of which 6,749 have been filled, while 8,046 pits are still left. It is targeted to be fixed by the end of October. A budget of Rs 18 crore has been allocated for repair of roads and additional 25 crore rupees have also been released if needed.
