Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and his three companions have successfully reached the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday. His spacecraft ‘Dragon’ connected to the space laboratory passing over the North Atlantic Ocean at 4:01 pm Indian time. This is a historic moment for India, as this is the first time an Indian astronaut has visited ISS.
A live video of the US space agency NASA shown the ‘Dragon’ spacecraft coming near the ISS, and the entire process of ‘Docking’ (joining) was completed by 4:15 pm. Let me tell you, under the Axiom-4 mission, these astronauts went out on their ISS trip from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday. This achievement is a large milestone for India’s space programs.

Shubhanshu Shukla, a group captain of the Indian Air Force and now an astronaut, has made history by successfully connecting the International Space Station (ISS) under the Axiom-4 mission. Shubhanshu’s sister Shuchi Mishra also expressed her feelings at this glorious moment. He said, ‘We were waiting for many days and were praying everyday for successful lift of and docking. Today it has happened. We are very happy and proud of them… It is not easy to reach here. It takes a lot of hard work, effort and time. He gave everything and reached here. Shuchi appreciated her brother’s dedication and hard work.

India’s new star in space is ‘Shubhanshu Shukla’
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is an experienced fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force, who has now created history as an astronaut. Born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Shubhanshu is one of the four Indian astronauts who were selected for ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission. Recently, he made a successful visit to the International Space Station (ISS) under the Axiom-4 Mission. His ‘Dragon’ spacecraft successfully connected to ISS on 26 June 2025. This is a historical moment because Shubhanshu has become the first Indian astronaut to reach ISS. He is also the second Indian to go in space after Rakesh Sharma, who achieved this feat in 1984.
