Shreyas Iyer Discharged From Hospital | Good news for Indian cricket fans! Shreyas Iyer discharged from hospital, big update from BCCI

BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has shared the third medical information on the health of batsman Shreyas Iyer. It is a matter of great joy for the fans that the star batsman has now been discharged from the hospital and is recovering well. He is also ready to return to India after being found fit to fly.

“The BCCI medical team, along with experts from Sydney and India, are pleased with his improvement in health and he has been discharged from the hospital today,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement on Saturday morning. BCCI further clarified that the batsman will remain in Sydney and will be fine. He will return home when he feels well enough to fly. Shreyas is not included in the ongoing T20 series against Australia and his next match was to be the ODI series against South Africa from November 30.

While running backwards to take the catch of Australia’s Alex Carey, Iyer fell badly after completing a catch. The team and fans celebrated as Iyer took the catch, but the joy soon turned into a look of worry on everyone’s faces as Iyer’s facial expressions and body language – he was in pain – told the story. He was injured and looked in a lot of pain. Iyer was constantly holding his ribs, unable to get up. And when Shreyas finally got up, the physio took him off the field.

Shreyas Iyer’s update in last two days

A day later, PTI reported that Iyer had suffered internal bleeding and was taken to the ICU of a Sydney hospital. The BCCI then issued its own statement, officially confirming the damage to his spleen. Several reports had claimed that Iyer was to undergo surgery, but BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia denied these reports. Thankfully, Shreyas’ condition soon stabilised, although the initial symptoms had fans worried. Iyer’s life appeared to be in danger, and had the BCCI not intervened in time, his life could have been in danger. Iyer’s condition deteriorated significantly as soon as he entered the dressing room, and he had to be immediately taken to doctors.

Although Iyer’s recent update brings good news, he may have to wait a long time to get back on the field. According to a report by RevSportz, Iyer could be out for two months, so the vice-captain will miss the ODI series against South Africa and will be struggling to get fit against New Zealand in January.

Iyer’s long absence will definitely be missed by the team as he brings experience to the team. After being dismissed cheaply for 11 in Perth, Iyer played a blistering 61 in Adelaide and shared a century partnership with Rohit Sharma. Iyer has proved his ability time and again at number four. His selection in India’s T20I team is under debate, but his ability as an ODI batsman cannot be denied.

Iyer, who replaced Shubman Gill as vice-captain, played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy win, scoring 243 runs in five matches. Besides, who can forget his memorable performance in the 2023 home World Cup? Rohit and Virat Kohli may have grabbed the headlines, but Iyer’s 530 runs, which included two centuries and three half-centuries, were no less than Ro-Ko’s, but just as important.

India are already without their dynamic all-rounder Hardik Pandya, so they will be hoping for a quick and healthy recovery for Iyer.
