An army soldier returning on duty on Sunday night in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly beaten by a toll plaza staff and brutally beaten with a pillar. The incident took place on camera at the roasted toll plaza of Sarurpur police station area and became very viral on social media. Police said that they have arrested four of the five toll plaza employees who allegedly attacked the jawan and started searching for the fifth. The jawan has been identified as Kapil Kawad, who was going to Delhi Airport with his cousin to return to duty in Srinagar.
Army jawan returning to duty was beaten brutally
This soldier named Kapil Kawad is in the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army. He came home on holidays and was going to Delhi Airport to go to his post in Srinagar. Kapil and his cousin got stuck at the crowded roasted toll booths. In worrying about late for his flight, Kapil got out of the car and started talking to the toll booth staff. After this, there was a debate on both sides and at least five toll booth employees beat up Kapil and his cousin. In a video of the assault, he is shown beating Kapil with a stick. After this, some attackers tie Kapil to a pillar, pull his hands back and one of them abuses and beats the soldier.
Meerut police statement on incident
According to the Meerut police, the incident took place at the roasted toll plaza on the Meerut-Karnal highway. In the dreadful footage released on social media, many toll workers are seen beating Kawad and tying it to the pillar. According to the police, at least four people have been arrested in this case, while the CCTV footage of the toll plaza is being investigated.

Police said that Kapil was on leave and was returning to duty in Srinagar, when the quarrel took place at the roasted toll plaza. According to him, there was a long queue of vehicles on the plaza and Kapil was in a hurry and he told the toll staff his position. However, there was a dispute between the soldiers and the toll staff and attacked the jawan with the intention of killing him. The police have arrested four accused by registering a case, while other teams are responsible for the incident and are investigating CCTV footage to arrest people.

Earlier, a 65-year-old retired army soldier was beaten to death by his neighbor in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. Police said that the deceased has been identified as Ramdayal Kushwaha, resident of Fatehpur village of Rudrapur police station area.
According to the police, Kushwaha objected to his neighbor Vijay Bind to drive a car from the victim’s land. After this, there was a debate between the two. Additional Superintendent of Police (Northern) Arvind Kumar Verma said that Vijay and some of his colleagues beat up Ramdayal and fled. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took Ramdayal to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
