Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday targeted Pakistan indirectly and said that there is no place in the world for “double standards” in the fight against terrorism. The Prime Minister made this remark in a statement to the media with his British counterpart Keer Starmer in London. Thanking Starmer for the support given to India during the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Modi said that the security agencies of India and the United Kingdom (UK) will continue to increase cooperation and coordination in matters such as extradition of economic criminals.

Pakistan is pleading to resume talks with India
Interestingly, Prime Minister Modi’s remarks came a day after Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s attempt to resume talks with India. He had said that Islamabad is ready to have “meaningful conversation” with New Delhi to resolve all pending issues. Sharif said this during a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, who met him at the Prime Minister’s residence in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Pahalgam attack and India-Pakistan deteriorating relations
Significantly, after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, relations between India and Pakistan had worsened. 26 people were killed in this attack, most of which were tourists. After the attack, India started Operation Sindoor and destroyed several terrorist camps inside the Pakistani border.

Prime Minister Modi spoke on the Indian region
In this address, which could be seen as a message to China, Prime Minister Modi also spoke on the overall status of the Indo-Pacific region and emphasized that the sovereignty and regional integrity of all countries is necessary. It is mentioning that the demand for today’s era is not expansionism, but developmentism, the Prime Minister said that we have continued to share peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, the ongoing struggle in Ukraine and the situation in West Asia.
